Fact-Checking Policy
How Newsut aims to assess factual claims and communicate uncertainty.
Our approach
Editors and contributors should verify dates, names, figures, quotations and other material claims through appropriate evidence before publishing them as fact. We seek original records and credible reporting whenever possible.
Source assessment
Sources should be evaluated for provenance, expertise, currency, potential conflicts and corroboration. A social media post alone may not establish that a disputed event occurred.
Images and video
Photographs, videos and other media should be checked for context and ownership before use. Illustrative or AI-generated material, where used, should not be represented as documentary evidence.
When facts change
Developing stories can change rapidly. Updates should reflect new information, and important factual corrections should be addressed under the Corrections Policy.
